40th anniversary celebrations

November 10th 2011
Children from Rackhouse Primary School, Wythenshawe today helped Manchester and Cheshire Construction celebrate its 40th anniversary. Pupils had painted the number 40 in a variety of colourful designs and the winning entries were blown up onto a billboard on the side of the company’s head office in Salford. The company had recently refurbished the school as Managing Director David Lowe explains;
"The refurbishment project was one of the first schemes we have carried out as part of the North West Construction Hub framework. We appreciate how keen they are for their contractors to provide added value, and this billboard therefore ticks a number of boxes. We carried out a similar project with Willow Park Housing Trust earlier in the year and it’s great to see the kids' faces as they turn the corner and see their drawings on display."
John Lorimer, Capital Programme Director at Manchester City Council was on hand to present prizes to the winners. He commented on the construction company's recent record turnover announcement;
"In this challenging economic climate, it is encouraging to see Manchester and Cheshire Construction adopting a strategy which is allowing the business to grow and enhance the local economy."
The school’s headmistress Tracy Wood later expressed her gratitude for the project;
"It was lovely for the children to be involved in your 'birthday'. You have treated them really well. Thank you and here's to your next 40 years!"
The poster can be seen on Oldfield Road in Salford and will remain up through to 2012.
