Charity on the home front
August 13th 2009
Manchester and Cheshire Construction Co. Ltd. have announced their support for local charity, Broughton House. Established in 1916, Broughton House in Kersal, Salford is a care home for ex-military personnel and is severely under-funded as Business Development Manager, Chris Purcell, explains;
'Broughton House has a funding shortfall of £100 per week per person, which must be made up through private funding and it really means something to us to be supporting them. Traditionally we raised money for various charities but thought it would be better if we could focus on one organisation where we could really make a difference.'
Manchester and Cheshire are also supporting the charity on a practical level as Purcell explains;
'With a direct labour force you always end up with gaps the odd week where an agent is waiting for his next job to start. Usually we would have them doing odd jobs in the yard but now we send our operatives to Broughton House to act as a handyman for a couple of days.'
