Further housing success for Manchester and Cheshire Construction

October 5th 2009

Salford-based contractor Manchester and Cheshire Construction Co. Ltd. has been included on a social housing framework which will see £250million spent on the repair and refurbishment of void properties. The framework was awarded by GM Procure, which represents 24 landlords throughout Greater Manchester.

The award is the latest in a recent run of success for the company as Business Development Manager, Chris Purcell, explains;

'This is the fourth framework we have been included on this year alone. In the first few years following the Egan report many clients chose to partner with large regional or national contractors and SME's such as ourselves were left out in the cold. Clients such as GM Procure have realised that this approach is not always effective, especially where smaller contract values are involved. Not only does using local SME's offer better value for money, but it also guarantees that the money spent is redistributed in the local economy. The vast majority of our workforce are based in Greater Manchester and it's fantastic to know that we are being rewarded for the investment we have made in our people.
The works will be delivered by our small works division, which was set up in 2008 to service the housing market, and they can't wait to get started. '
