Manchester and Cheshire Construction go back to university
December 7th 2011
Manchester and Cheshire Construction are celebrating their appointment to a new construction framework with the University of Manchester. The company is particularly pleased with their achievement given the number of contractors on the new framework as Construction Director, Eugene O' Callaghan, explains;
'The University has reduced the number of contractors from its previous framework considerably and we are now one of just five companies that can bid for work between £200,000 and £1million. This gives us a great opportunity to win work and continue our plans for growth despite the tough economic climate.'
The company's experience in the higher education sector played a part in their successful navigation of the OJEU tendering process as O' Callaghan explains;
'To the University's credit a great deal of importance was placed on the technical element of the bid which accounted for 70% of the total marks. We understand the unique requirements of carrying out construction projects surrounded by students, staff and the general public. Fortunately we were able to communicate this experience through our bid.'
The framework will run for a maximum of 4 years with an anticipated overall spend of £65million through three different value bands.
This appointment was recently the subject of a featured article in the Manchester Evening News.
