Revellers danced the night away to hits of the 1980s at a charity disco which helped achieve our £10,000 fundraising target for good causes.
We’ve have been raising money for Together Dementia Support and Salford Loaves & Fishes over the past year, and reached our goal when 70 people attended the disco at the home of rugby union club Broughton Park FC.
Guests took to the dancefloor in 1980s fancy dress as hits by stars such as Whitney Houston, A-Ha, Kool & The Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire rang out.
Joining our staff among the revellers were representatives from across our supply chain, who also sponsored the event and donated raffle prizes, including hampers of wine and sweet treats, Trafford Centre shopping vouchers, afternoon tea at Manchester restaurant and cocktail bar 20 Stories, and Manchester United match tickets.
A silent auction for a Manchester City shirt signed by the first team also helped boost the coffers.
Catering was provided by Sai Spice, an Indian restaurant based in Chorlton, Manchester.
Jennifer-Anne Smith, chief executive of Salford Loaves & Fishes, and Claire Marrett, service delivery manager at Together Dementia Support, spoke at the evening and thanked us for our support over the past 12 months.
Other fundraising activities by our team have included taking part in the 10K Great Manchester Run and an abseil at the Trafford Centre Palazzo shopping mall tower.
Together Dementia Support, based in Hulme, Manchester, provides practical support to help people live better with dementia. It runs friendship and activity groups and provides services including dementia cafés, carer training courses, social events, short-term respite, home visits, and information and advice to families.
Salford Loaves & Fishes provides support to thousands of people each year. It runs a range of services to assist homeless, isolated and vulnerable people living in and around the city on matters such as housing, food, finances, health, accommodation and benefits.

“At the start of our fundraising drive, we set a target of raising a total of £10,000 and our Back to the 80s disco was a really memorable and enjoyable way to reach our goal.
“We had tremendous support from across the business and from our supply chain, who got involved either by buying tickets, sponsoring the event and donating raffle prizes.
“Their efforts have been pivotal in enabling us to raise sizeable sums for two very good local causes, which we hope will make a real difference to people in our community.”
