Three pillars of sustainability
MC Construction is committed to the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social sustainability.
We work closely with environmental consultants to ensure compliance with environmental best practice. Our procurement and contract teams analyse materials and processes and carry out environmental value engineering, for example by replacing single-use, non-renewable materials with those that can easily be re-purposed. For every project we create an Environmental Management Plan and undertake Environmental Risk Assessments. Waste management methods include active reduction of waste produced in addition to reduction of waste to landfill and the use of organisations such as Recipro and JWS Waste to redeploy waste wherever possible. Additionally, we utilise the web-based tool ConstructCO2 to monitor and reduce carbon footprints of site activities.
We have a direct employment policy and seek to employ a workforce local to the areas in which we operate. Additionally, we utilise a local supply chain wherever we can. In this way we maximise opportunities for employment and economic gain across the North West economy.
As an organisation registered with Investors in People we have a proven commitment to the development of our employees . We have policies in place related to the education and training of a workforce recruited from the areas in which we work. Furthermore, our training programme includes environmental and sustainability training for our own operatives and supply chain through project specific tool-box talks. We are strong proponents of social responsibility , undertaking community initiatives on our projects.
